The best of both worlds, Western Australia has both a rugged and beautiful outback to discover, and a history tied to the ocean. From the vast open plains of the Nullarbor to the colourful marine wonderland of Ningaloo Reef.
The Outback is a vast place, but it's not all red dust. National parklands with churning rivers and dramatic gorges offer respite from the soaring heats. And in the south east, the landscape is fertile supporting some of the best vineyards in the country.
All along the coastline there is beauty. The underwater diving is spectacular with many coral reefs being home to exotic fish, turtles, manta rays and dolphins, while the Southern Ocean is a playground for whales.
The coastline has a history of treasure and bloody massacres. To Broome in the north, the exotic trade of deep sea pearls has long been a draw card for visitors who love the luminescent shine of the ocean gemstone. And to the South, the violent trade of whaling has thankfully long since come to an end and the gentle pastime of whale watching is now hugely popular.

Denham is the main town in the Shark Bay World Heritage area
Denham is the main town in the Shark Bay World Heritage area, located on the western coast of the Peron Peninsula about eight hours' drive north of Perth. Enjoy the heritage of the area and the easy going lifestyle of the locals.
Shark Bay received World Heritage listing in 1991 and is one of only a handful of places in the world that satisfy all four criteria for a heritage listing; having an important evolutionary and biological history, unique formations and natural habitats where threatened species survive.
Spectacular coastal scenery at Shark Bay includes the Zuytdorp cliffs, Shell Beach, Cape Peron and unique natural phenomena such as the stromatolites and the Wooramel sea grass bank. Shark Bay has 13 threatened reptile species, three rare bird species, a population of over ten thousand dugongs and significant loggerhead turtle rockeries.
